Showing Love at Christmas and all year too !

I was talking to a friend of a friend the other day and he told me that his mother and father never ever told him that they loved him ! I cant believe that a mother and father could go for the life of their child and never tell that child that they love him or her ! The guy was about 60 years old ! What is wrong with people ! The guy said it really bothered him through life . He always was wanting to be told that his parents loved him but it never happened . What a shame ! Another guy that day said that his family never said that they loved one another .When his family got together on holidays all they did was fight ! They never learned to forgive one another ! To say im sorry and tell one another that they loved each other !! How simple life is and how we complicate each others lives because we dont say I love you and Im sorry for not telling you sooner ! Tell someone you love them ! Tell your children how much you love them !! Start the new year right by doing the right thing !

Getting ready for Christmas

Getting ready for Christmas and im not just talking about buying presents ! I find that food is a major factor at Christmas . I have my Christmas Tamales and have already started eating them . We decited to buy a smoked turkey instead of a Butterball and we got a Ham also . There are so many people who dont have food to eat at Christmas or any other day of the week . It is so sad to see this in the United States Of America . Those of us who have food to eat need to give to the Food Bank in your town . Giving is receiving you know . Giving fills the heart with joy . Christmas is about Love that God gave us with the Birth Of Jesus Christ . When you are eating with your family and friends this Christmas remember how blessed you are to have food to eat . Have a very Merry Christmas and dont for get to give what you can to you area Food Bank or Church Pantry !!

Christmas Tamales !

Since I live in Texas and am a person who loves Tamales and its almost Christmas ! Its time for Christmas Tamales ! A friend of mine years ago turned me on to the fact that at Christmas you had to have Christmas Tamales on the table with the Ham and Turkey ! More food to eat . I like that and I darn sure so like them Christmas Tamales ! Not every Mexican resturant has good Tamales so you have to ask around and find the best of the best because I deserve the best of the best Tamales ! Hope you get some Christmas Tamales for yourself and have a wonderful time eating them ! Its a blessing from God for sure ! Thank You Lord for Christmas Tamales !!AMEN !!

Texas weather for Thanksgiving !

People have always said "If you dont like the weather in Texas just wait and it will change " . How true this Thanksgiving Day . Starting the day in the 80s and by night fall it will be in the low 40s . Overnite it will be in the 30s and the next day in the 40s all day and Friday nite in the low 30s ! Now it is in the 80s and very hot and humid outside . I have tomatoe plants putting out tomatoes and 2 eggplants that are loaded with eggplant ! This all means I need to breakout the veggie blankets and cover my plants . Oh well its almost winter and we usually have light winters so we have nothing to yell about in a sub tropical area like the Gulf Coast of Texas !

Have I told you how much I love Potato Salad ?

I love Potato salad ! There I said it ! Now I cant ask the question have I told you how much I love Potato Salad ! I make a mean Potato Salad ! New potatos, mayo, a little mustard, onions, and celery,pimientos and chopped up hard boiled eggs and then top it off with sweet relish !! Iput it in the frig and let it rest till tomorrow ! Then I can snack on it for a couple of days and just fill my heart with Happiness and my belly with Potato Salad ! I just love the stuff ! Its what life is all about bringing happiness to yourself ! Potato Salad rings my bell !! So there it is !!

Happy Holidays are here !!

The Holiday season is here !Friends are in town for Thanksgiving a week early and its great ! Lots of food to eat ! They are from Florida and dont get good Mexican food there or good ole Texas BBQ ! On the east coast its pork BBQ and not beef which is wonderful too ! There is only for people who have lived in Texas and had Texas BBQ only one BBQ that sticks in their minds and thats Beef BBQ and my Florida friends put their order in before they got on the plane ! So this week it is BBQ and great Mexican food ! I have been around the world and Houston has to have the best all around resturants than anywhere else in the world ! Im always happy to get back home and eat some great food ! Having a great meal during the Holidays with family and friends is such a great time of shareing good food and love ! Next week its Thanksgiving and our house is going to be full of sweet aromas of food and love ! I cant wait ! We are so blessed to live in freedom with food to eat ! We should be thankful for all our blessings small or large to be living in freedom in the good old USA !!

Things that try to disrupt my happiness !!

Stupid people who are followers and not leaders but think they are smart ! These people are trying to disrupt my happiness ! Some dont want to go through the airport patdown ! Let them go home and not fly ! I want to be safe ! There are alot of stupid people who want to kill us ! People listen to to many Radio shows that excite them to be radical and follow what is said ! Democrats and Republicans are all nuts ! In Houston this month there was on the ballot Red Light Cameras for or against ! Well people run red lights everyday and kill people and ruin lives ! People voted to take the cameras down and put there lives at stake ! In this time in the world people are crazy stupid ! We were in Europe not long ago and people there would ask what was wrong with the American people and why we voted in Stupid people and were messing up the entire world with our crazy stupid ways !!I could only agree and say I didnt vote for these things they were speaking of ! I dont listen to the crap on the Radio and TV !I have a brain that I can make my own mind up about thing that are important to our lives but I am out numbered by stupid people who have no brains !These people are messing with my happiness and ruining the world and it will never be the same again ! Sad to say im glad im old and dont have a lot of years left to see what we are going to see in the future ! Our poor Children ! They dont want to tax the millionares but want to cut social security ! Some old people dont have a/c or heat to stay warm ! Some dont have food to eat But we can spend billions on war ! What is going on in this country with our values and morals ! I have to put my trust in God and block out all this crap and refuse to give up my happiness !

Giving is receiving !

When I was a child my Dad started a grocery store in 1951. I was in the 1st grade ! There were alot of people in our neighborhood who were very poor ! My dad would give them credit . Most everyone would try to pay him back but some could not . At Christmas Dad would just tell them it was their present ! He taught me to give ! His kindness to those people was not forgot ! Sometimes years later people would come and pay him after their lives got better ! Our grocery business only got better with his kindness ! He fed alot of people and never looked back for a pat on the back ! He taught me how to give ! He was a good man ! He died when I was 16 and I ran the grocery store with the help of my aunt and Uncle when I was at school ! I ran that store till I was 18 and followed his path of giving and we prospered !I loved the grocery business but it was very confining and I wanted to get into radio broadcasting so I leased out the business ! What my Dad taught me about giving stays with me today so I give to the food banks meals on wheels program ! Giving to people that we see need help in our lives that are having trouble in their lives ! We do it so they only know that its a gift from God !!Giving is receiving ! It warms your heart ! In this time of need in our country giving is so needed now more than ever . Giving to the food bank is a place to help people in need ! I know it would make my Dad very happy !!

Fruit ! Oh how I love fruit !!

I was raised in a grocery store ! My Dad was such a great Dad ! He would go to the market every morning and buy great fruit and when I would get home from school he would say go check out the cooler ! There would be a case of grapes or plums or maybe a big box of beautiful apples !! What a treat ! One day I came home and put my apron on and went into the cooler in our store and there was a case of beautiful strawberries ! My dad said to get some to take home that he bought them mainly for me and my Mom ! What a loving caring Dad he was and I really miss him !I had a good dad for sure ! He knew how much I loved fruit and he fixed me up !! One summer he told me that this guy was going to build a 20x20 shed outside the store and for me to make sure it was built in the right place outside ! Much to my surprise the guy built it ,painted it and made a sign that said "Chucks Watermelons " the next day I came home from school and there were 300 watermelons under the shed !He said I could sell them for $2.each and keep a dollar for myself ! I made a lot of money that summer and ate a lot of watermelon too !! Fruit makes me happy ! Its good time for fruit around Christmas ! Good apples and Oranges ! There are even great Strawberries and blueberries ! Remember what they say " an apple a day will keep the Docror away " Have fun and enjoy !

Things that make you Happy !!

Things that make you happy ! Lets see what could make you happy . Sex ,ice cream , a comfortable pair of shoes , a great dinner there are so many things that could make us happy ! When we wake up each day we should focus on one thing that brings happiness to us and keep happiness alive in our minds and hearts all day long !! A great cup of coffee and the thought of the great life you have in freedom here in the good old USA ! You can be what you want to be and live anyway you want ! We have alot of things to be happy about ! They are endless so be happy and enjoy your life today and every day !!

Food the best thing you can do for yourself !!

The greatest thing a human being could ever do for him or her self ever is to eat well ! I see people deny themselves good food for different reasons ! If you like something like steak you should eat it but only in moderate amounts ! That goes for anything you want to eat ! Eat it and live well and dont deny yourself ! People dont eat good food for healthy reasons for years and dont live any longer than any one else ! Eat moderate amounts of any food and enjoy life and exercise too! People are really stupid and do what people tell them to do instead of what God gave them a brain for to take care of themselves ! Eat Be Happy and do what is good for you and not what someone tells you is right for you !! Dont make me have to tell you again !! Just kidding !! Have a great day and be happy !!

Being happy is easy !!

Yes its easy being happy everyday ! When your the kind of person who likes yourself for the values and morals you have as a loving careing person !! Yep when you like yourself you will start likeing the people and things around you ! The beauty of the landscape in your travels around town or in your backyard ! When you take care of your finances in a responsable way then they wont be after you to pay up and you dont have to be unhappy when they cut your lights off !! Remember that the happiest times in your life are the simple pleasures ! So be happy and smile !!

Happiness is cool beautiful weather !!!

Its just been some beautiful cool weather here in Texas ! Afer a hot summer it is very welcome ! It makes me so happy and the little furry babies too !! The cool weather is a real kick in the butt to get out and do stuff you have been putting off because of the hot weather !!Off to do some running around and spend some money doing some shopping !! Im going to be glad when the elections are over ! Im tired of it all !! Hope people are smart in who they vote for ! It could get worst ! Oh well get rid of one crook for another ! Im happy so that is all I have to say for now !! Be happy and show some love to one another !!

Back at it after a little break

Back at it after a little break ! I have been very busy with a death of my wifes Grandfather and another Grandfather in a old folks home with dental problems and other problems so we have been off to see doctors all over town for one thing or another ! I have been very happy spending time with him . He is a wonderful old guy with a loving heart ! He spent over 30 years in the Army ! He was in World warII and the Korean war plus he did two tours of duty in Vietnam ! He retired from the Army in 1973 with the higest rank for an enlisted man as a Sargent major ! After retireing he was a Buick mechanic for 20 years ! He has some good stories to tell ! He has good long term memory but dosnt have to good of short term memory at all ! He sometimes thinks he is in the war somewhere and asks for a body count at the old folks home !! He won a silver star and a bronze star for bravery but we dont know what war they were from !! He remains a kind gental man even after all he has been through !! You never know what someone has been through or has done in their lifes . Im proud to know him ! I always kid him since I was in the US Marine Corp that now a Marine has to take care of him and he laughs !! He brings happiness to my day for sure !!

Reunions and lunches !!

Went to a reunion of some bands and some great local song writers on Sunday ! It was great to see some old friends some that I have not seen in many years . Some of my old radio friends were there also and that was great to sit around and shoot the bull !!!The last Monday of each month we get together with radio broadcasters that we all worked with here in the city and have a good time shareing stories and good food !! Its great getting together with old friends ! Staying in touch is a good thing !! People should do it more often !! I had a great time being in radio for over 30 years and staying in one city for over 25 years without having to move around the country !! I was blessed to work with some of the most wonderful people you could ever want to be around !! We all were like family ! I am a blessed person to still get to share my life with these great people ! Be happy and smile today and show some love to others !!

crazy last few days

It has been a crazy last few days . I had to go to two funerals which is no fun ! I just dislike going to funerals because people are so sad for losing someone and that is not fun . It has been so hot here that I refuse to wear a hot suit in this kind of weather . Not meaning any disrespect to the person who died or the family . It is sad that alot of people dont see each other until there is a funeral .The funeral becomes a way to bring people back together again ! Oh well enough of that. The heat wave has drained me of my energy and you just have to stay inside to stay cool if you can . Dogs ar dieing from heat stroke . How sad ! People need to take care of there dogs and keep them cool ! I am happy camper today and am staying inside and am not going anywhere ! Be happy and show some love and kindness to someone today !

Shopping

Got up this morning and had fun with the dogs outside on the patio ! Gave all the furry babies their meds and then hit the road with list in hand to do some shopping ! The garbage disposer went out in one of our rent houses so im off to Home Depot to buy a new one . My wife is calling a plumber today to come out and install it . After Home Depot im going to HEB supermarket ! I love to go grocery shopping . It makes me so happy to be around food . You know that the best thing we can do for ourselves is to eat good food.The thought of food makes my mouth water!I can get really crazy at the food store so my wife has me on a leach of sorts to keep me under control ! I didnt realize that what I do is buy more than one item and stock up on some items that are on sale . Then before you know it we have more than the store !!I can say one thing we wont run out of mayo whan we have 15 jars in the pantry !! Oh well I can only say Im a happy man with a lot of food we can eat that I bought on sale and saved money doing it !! Im blessed to have money to do it ! Some people dont have food to eat here in the good old USA that why I also give to our local food bank each month !! If you give $50. a month that will feed a lot of poor people wh need help ! Stormy Weather Again !!

Woke up to a real thunder buster in Houston !! I found myself with a bed full of little furry babies shaking so much that the bed was vibrating !! Had to sedate them and now they are happy campers !! The storm in the Gulf is going into Brownville and its bringing a lot of heavy duty rain here ! We need the rain though !It going to be another stay inside and enjoy the peace and watch some movies ! Its my homemade Lasagna for supper tonight !! Cooking is such a pleasure to me just like working in the garden and yard !! Planting and watching them grow puts me in touch with God and brings peace with in ! When I have peace with myself it brings beauty and happiness to me ! I love it ! I have had a great life ! I have always wanted to work on the railroad since i was a small child and i did that for 17 years ! I enjoyed going to work everyday on a train !! I also was a major market afternoon radio on air personality for 30 years !! I always wanted to be on the radio since i was a kid ! I made my dreams come true and had a great time and worked with some of rhe most wonderful people in the world !I have had a lot of fun in my life ! I have also had a lot of pain and Terrible things happen in my life but I have always refused to let it get me down for long ! I put it behind me quickly and get it out of my mind and put a smile on my face with alot of love in my heart and get that dirt out of my mind and go on with a good attitude and have a good day and a good life for myself and the ones I love ! You do the same today and Smile and be happy today I will !!

Rain and lots of it today !!

Rain in the forcast today . We need rain here in Houston . There is something magic about rain ! I can water the yard day after day and the grass and plants grow slowly > When it rains the grass jumps up over night a foot high !! Sat on the patio this morning with the Little furry babies and the big dogs and watched the neighbors fig tree as I drank my coffee . We have a cyclone fence and the fig tree is hanging over in my yard for my pleasure to eat those wonderful figs . I have had my eye on them for weeks waiting for them to get ripe and this morning was the time but the red birds beat me to them and then every bird in town came flying to this fig tree and picked it almost clean !!God takes care of the birds you know ! Oh well !!It was fun watching them . It part of my happy life ! I love it when it rains and we have been getting lots of heavy rain ! There is a storm in the Gulf that is bringing all this rain !! Reminds me of that old song "Stormy Weather " ! The little furry babies dont like stormy weather at all and pile up on me for protection ! I never ever feel unloved ! God has blessed me with these wonderful little babies to love me all day and night ! Salmon for dinner tonight Yum Yum !! Some movies are in my future today while it rains . Enjoying peace and quiet !

Enjoying life is my new job since retiring ! Happiness is something you make for yourself ! I refuse to be unhappy .I enjoy my life ! Our dogs are a big part of that happiness . Working with my hands in the dirt in my yard brings great joy ! All the years of working and not stopping to smell the roses ! What I missed is enormous . The beauty around us . Stop look and listen to the beauty and it will make you a better person . My relationship with a wonderful women brings me such happiness . She makes me a better man for sure .
I have had a wonderful life doing the jobs that I always wanted to do and that is so important in life ! I enjoyed going to work and had a good attitude . That made work fun around people that were fun to work with ! You cant beat that with a stick .You can be happy and smile and show love and kindness to others too !! Have a great day !!
